Bio

Laura Elinson Elman knows words.

Writing for Laura began as a childhood hobby, flourished into a teenage yen, and matured into a full-fledged career. Laura's portfolio includes promotional material, newsletters, press releases, journalism and educational writing. She is based in Toronto, Ontario.

Laura's role as a Communications Coordinator with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation not only proved her talent for writing, but also honed her skills in media and stakeholder outreach, and marketing - including social media, of course. She is equally as comfortable building your organization's publication from the ground-up as she is building stories to support your organization's new initiatives and building the buzz that will help your word get out to the public.

Laura's time at CBCF also saw her in charge of some change-making projects. One of these was a complete overhaul of the Foundation's existing e-newsletter. She researched international e-newsletter trends, hired a graphic designer, and revamped the publication. With the launch of the first new issue, open rates increased by 51%.

Prior to CBCF, Laura worked as a freelance writer for a number of organizations.

Laura has also lent her writing talents to the federal government, where she worked as a Special Assistant to the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada.

Her exceptional communications skills are not, however, limited to the written word.

Laura spent a number of years working as a classroom teacher. She spent one of these years teaching English literature to students in grades 7 through 9. Incidentally, this should answer any and all questions about Laura's strength of character. Just ask any middle school teacher.
